Whether it is trophies, sports memorabilia, or swords, a display case is a great method to showcase items you have collected. Setting up a display case can keep your valuables out of harm’s way and in beautiful view. With a high number of display cases on the market, buying and setting up your display case can be quite a task. The following are tips to help you create the best looking showcase for your collectables.
There are display cases created specifically for displaying certain items. Get the case that will best suit the items you are showing. There are cases for flags, jerseys, balls, and many other items. After select everything to be displayed and decide on the case that will be the best fit. If you are displaying multiple items, you may consider separating them into different cases.
As you begin setting up items in your display case, you must have a good organizational method. Group similar items together. When displaying items on shelves, put larger items in back and smaller items in front. This way, all items can be seen at all times. Be sure that you are not over-filling the case. If you have a lot of memorabilia or multiple collectables, crowding them will take away from the effect of a display case. If the display case looks at all crowded, split the items up into multiple cases.
It is true that less is more in display cases. Because items on display are usually wonderful on their own, you don’t want to add too many bells and whistles. However, there are small additions that can make a display case shine. Adding display lighting creates a dramatic effect. Lighting, LED in particular, adds focus to the wonderful items in your case. Also, using mirrors to reflect collectables adds beauty to the case.
If the items you are displaying permit, it is often nice to have lettering, wording or information plates created for viewer’s convenience. It is a nice touch to have professional grade plaques with information regarding the items.
After your case is set-up, there is a little bit of upkeep. Display cases don’t require large amounts of time, but they do need to be cleaned regularly to maintain their glow. Dust items frequently so the display is always in top condition. Dust gathers on anything that sits too long. Also, fingerprints are bound to get on the outside of your case. You want to share your collectables with others. Do everything you can to make it easy to see the items by cleaning off fingerprints regularly.
