The Many Meanings of Roses

What is the easiest go-to present for a man to send a woman? Flowers. Anniversaries, birthdays, Valentines Day, visiting someone who is sick, and celebrations are all occasions when sending flowers is completely appropriate. Whether it is an international flower delivery or a first date, flowers are a great surprise. But are you sending a hidden message with the flowers you do not intend to?

If a first date was enjoyed and a man wanted to send flowers to the woman, he most likely is going to send roses, also known as the go-to-flower. But most men are oblivious to the fact that the various colors of roses send different meanings. Obviously, red roses mean true love, but what about the other colors?

Black: This color is most commonly associated with funerals and sadness and it is no different with black roses. Funerals, death, hatred, and farewells are all the best occasions to send these flowers.

Yellow: When sending a friend flowers or sending a message that there just is not a spark there between two people, this is the color of roses to send. Yellow signifies friendship. It can also be used for apologies, but the most traditional meaning of this color is friendship.

Blue: There you are, standing in a café, and suddenly a beautiful woman passes by. There is something different about her though that just stops you in your tracks. When you start dating and want to send her roses, blue is the best color because it means “love at first sight”.

White: The color white is meant to stand for virtue, peace, and innocence. This is why brides have always traditionally worn white. Finding occasions to send these roses should not be too often, but they definitely happen.

Most importantly, you should know that women love flowers. Once there is a solid relationship, colors can mean nothing. If she hates roses or blue is her favorite color, by all means, remembering that will send a better message than any tradition can muster. If you send flowers to Chile or her front door, it still means you thought about her.
